Spectators are encouraged to come out to Green Hill Park and witness the traditional sports of the Scottish Highlands. Competitions will include the stone put, weight for distance, weight for height, hammer throw, caber toss, and sheaf toss. Spice up your summer-Indian spices! July is all about the Indian snacks! Potato-filled Somosas and Vegetable Pakauris (fried nuggets made with vegetables dipped in a chick pea flour batter) and the popular sweet and sour Tamarind Chutney. August will feature Vegetable Biryani (a delicious blend of rice and vegetables), Mircha Ka Saalan (a sauce made with peanuts and coconut) and Ras Gulla (milk balls in a sweet syrup). Hike for Hospice is a fund raising and awareness event for Good Samaritan Hospice. Several guided hikes will be held on Sunday September 10 from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM at Roanoke County’s Explore Park.
